What was the last thing that made you cry?
Working in a vet clinic for 6 years, I see a lot of euthanasia. They're always sad, but most stop phasing you after a while. For the first time since my having to put my own pets to sleep, I started bawling during the euthanasia of a young cat named Danny. He was a stray tomcat who tested positive for FIV. The owners wouldn't keep a FIV+ cat in their multicat household, so they elected to euthanize. Their friend came to be present for the euthanasia and bring the cat home. I knew Danny for roughly 15 minutes, but when the vet started to inject the solution into the catheter, I started crying, I couldn't stop myself. How unfair it was to be given 5 minutes notice that you might be able to save this cat's life, but ultimately he was euthanized. Handsome, sweet Danny. I wish I had more time, maybe I could have done more.
